In July 2017 EACF held a popular meeting – ‘Considering Consolidation’ – which took a close look at the issues around consolidation across all fields of conservation. In response to the very positive feedback EACF announce a follow up event in which we explore the ethics, difficulties and practicalities of strengthening fragile and friable objects and surfaces in more detail, providing an opportunity share, discuss and question this potentially crucial, but frequently irreversible treatment option.
Taking the form of a Round Table discussion with short presentations (5-10 minutes), speakers from public and charitable institutions, private practice and emerging conservators / conservation students will talk about their experiences and challenges. In keeping with EACFs’ aims, we welcome contributors from all conservation disciplines so that we can learn from each other.
This event is aimed for Conservators, prospective conservators, and those commissioning or managing conservation work
