This fantastic training offer from the Museum of East Anglian life is ideal for staff and volunteers who work with collections. The focus of the day will be on collecting contemporary culture. People dealing with all kinds of collections are encouraged to attend.
The course will address the challenges of contemporary collecting, discuss how you decide which objects fall into an appropriate contemporary collecting policy, and how to encourage people to donate appropriate contemporary objects.
Participants will look at a range of practical case studies and supplement this with relevant theory.
By the end of the course, participants will:
- Be aware of the challenges facing collections.
- Be able to identify appropriate areas for contemporary collecting at their museum.
- Feel confident discussing the importance contemporary collecting and share this with their colleagues.
Morning refreshments will be provided, but please make your own arrangements for lunch. There is a café on site.
