This course is aimed at museum staff, including senior managers, or volunteers who are considering starting or developing work in community participation/co-production.
The course will begin with an introduction to the theory of co-production and how this works out in practice, and will look at how to get started and negotiate hurdles using case studies of projects from museums of different sizes and staffing structure in our region. The day will include talks and activities, and will end with time to think about your own institution and the opportunity to ask for a co-production mentor from the newly established SHARE Co-production Network.
By the end of the course participants will:
- understand principles of co-production
- have learnt about the challenges and how to overcome them from case studies in the region
- have thought about how to start or develop community participation in their own museum
- have the opportunity to ask for a co-production mentor
Refreshments will be provided but please bring a packed lunch or make your own arrangements.
Bookings are closed for this event.
