Facilitators: The SHARE Reminiscence Network
Following the successful Reminiscence Network East conference at Duxford in March 2014 there have been several requests for some training in using reminiscence, so we are going ‘back to basics’ for this workshop.
Session 1: This is a session for people who are new to reminiscence work and want to learn about key skills however it is also useful for those people with experience of reminiscence work who would like a chance to network and meet other people using reminiscence across the region. The first session will cover a definition of reminiscence work, reasons why we use it, the person-centred approach, listening skills, avoiding upsetting memories and dealing with upset should it occur and using prompts to aid recall.
Session 2: A presentation by Fiona Mason from Troubadour, a theatre company using music and drama based on memories and people’s stories. In this session Fiona will explain how memories and objects can be used to create song.
