This practical half-day course led by Robert Entwistle (Accredited Conservator, Colchester & Ipswich Museum Service) is ideal for documentation staff, conservators and those involved with collections care.
The session will cover the purpose of labelling and marking a museum object, and the practical application of labelling techniques and materials to a museum object.
By the end of the course, participants will:
- Know the reasons for labelling and marking, and when to undertake it
- Identify the materials used in labelling and marking museum objects
- Select appropriate labelling and marking techniques appropriate for a variety of museum objects
- Recognise the Health and Safety implications of using some labelling and marking products containing chemicals and select basic health and safety precautions.
Numbers are limited for this course, so we recommend that participants should be staff or volunteers who are directly involved with collections care in their museums.
What people are saying about Labelling & Marking:
“The practical parts were the best bits. It gave just the right level of confidence to go away and do it for real.”
