The Museums and Archives series is designed to help museums get more from the expertise at their local record office. In Hertfordshire we will look to inspire ways for museums and community archives to work together and combine the skills, expertise and assets of both parties.
A varied and interesting day is planned, which will include an introduction to archives using original material; a look at basic handling and display techniques; a tour of Hertfordshire Archives storage area normally not accessible to the public and a guided visit to the conservation studio.
- explore innovative ways of using archives and museum objects together
- learn how to handle archival documents safely
- learn some basic conservation and display techniques
- gain an increased awareness of material available in a local archive
Delegates will also receive a resources and information pack to take away with them.
Morning refreshments will be available but please make your own arrangements for lunch.
This course is open to museums from other counties but in the event of over subscription priority will be given to museums in Hertfordshire.
Bookings are closed for this event.
