This free two day course offers an engaging and effective introduction to many areas of museum work:
- PR and Marketing
- Volunteer Management
- Event Management
- Income Generation
- Customer Service
- Peer-to-Peer Mentoring
The course is aimed at anyone who would like to learn or improve skills that will support them to carry out every day work in museums. The course might particularly suit people who are new to the museums or cultural sector, or in the early stages of their career, but is open to all. Participants do not need any prior knowledge of any of the subjects covered.
Participants can book to come to one day, both days, or individual sessions. On the booking form below, please select the day(s) you would like to attend from the drop down menu. If you would just like to attend one particular session, please select the day, and write your choice in the comments box.
Download a programme and a full description of each session below.
The course is being delivered as part of North Norfolk Stories, a two-year project that is being managed by Museums Norfolk and supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund. The project aims to enthuse and involve more local people with heritage and to support people volunteering and working in the cultural sector to learn and develop skills. Key to the project is the delivery of the North Norfolk Stories Festival that will take place across 10 North Norfolk towns as part of national Museums at Night campaign in May 2015 and May 2016.
Note: At the beginning of April we’ll be sending out an online questionnaire to participants who’ve signed up at that point so trainers can all tweak the content of their sessions to ensure that, as much as possible, it meets the needs of the participants.
Complete the booking form below to secure your place. If you are associated with or work for a particular museum, please enter this in the “museum name” box.
