This practical training will cover the basics of collections photography – including why we need to photograph objects and what we need to capture. It will include technical equipment knowledge, the care of objects whilst photographing, lighting an object and problem solving.
Sarah Holmes is a professional photographer and museum volunteer at Bishops Stortford.
- be able to identify what to consider when setting up an area to take photographs of their object
- understand some of the key settings on digital cameras that will enable them to take better photographs
- understand how to light objects effectively
- know how to deal with more problematic objects/lighting
Important Note: Participants will need to bring the cameras they use at their own museum and where possible the instruction manual. Cameras will need to have fully charged batteries and cleared memory cards.
Morning refreshments will be provided, but please make your own arrangements for lunch.
