This practical session will help you to review visitor information you collect and look at what it might tell you about who is visiting and who is not. We will look at free tools that are available to help you with analysis and reporting, for example to enable you to plot postcode data. We will look briefly at how you might segment audiences into groups in order to decide which groups to prioritise. Finally, we will consider areas for future audience research, for example, with non-visitors. If you wish, you can bring a laptop and your own data so you can work on this in the session.
To take part you must be collecting the following types of data from visitors:
- Percentage of new or repeat visitors
- Their home location e.g. first part of postcode
- Percentage of adults / children.
There are two dates for this workshop:
- 20th November – for smaller museums
- 26th November – for museums working towards an HLF bid or audience development plan
