This practical session will allow you to develop an action plan to increase and/or diversify your audiences. It will cover a range of activities and tools that can help you to reach new visitors and meet their needs, with the emphasis on low-cost approaches. In the session you will look at developing priorities so you can focus your effort, and at ways of evaluating whether your activities are working. We will use case studies of other museums and heritage attractions in order to illustrate a range of approaches. You will also get the opportunity to discuss your own museum’s aims, approach and issues within the session. To take part you must be collecting the following types of data from visitors:
- Percentage of new or repeat visitors
- Their home location e.g. first part of postcode
- Percentage of adults / children.
There are two dates for this workshop:
- 11th December – for museums working towards an HLF bid or audience development plan
- 17th December – for smaller museums
