Event Details

Vivian Lochhead has worked on an expansive range of textiles including mixed media objects such as militaria, costume and banners. In 1989 Vivian established the Textile Conservation Studio at the People’s History Museum in Manchester, with the specific remit to care for the museum’s world-renowned collection of banners and to offer a conservation service to other banner owning institutions.

In this workshop, Vivian will share her experiences through a practical demonstration, hands on learning and in-depth presentations and discussions. Samples will be available to implement testing, cleaning and consolidation. Various consolidants will be supplied so that participants can gain first-hand experience.

Please be aware that this is a two day workshop, with an optional tour at 11am on the first day. The workshop starts midday and ends 5pm each day

This event is suitable for anyone involved in textile, painting and objects conservators. Delegates should bring examples or images of objects you are working on. Some basic tools will be required, a list will be provided prior to arrival.

Refreshments will be provided on arrival but please bring your own lunch.
